What's the Recipe for a Successful Marriage?

So what is the Recipe for Love you ask?

Is it...

1 Cup Passion
A Heap of Happiness
A Pinch of Forgiveness
A Spoonful of Sharing
1/4 Cup of Friendship
A Dash of Dreams

Blend well and keep it hot at all times!

I think they've got a pretty good idea. Marriage definitely takes a lot of different things to keep it healthy, growing and full of excitement. My biggest discovery is to always cherish the "little things." I believe the little things keep the fire burning. Such as: saying, "I love you," doing the dishes (or any other chore) without being asked, cooking a warm meal, unlocking the door for your spouse, giving a card or flower on an ordinary day, leaving a post-it note or a note on the mirror, praying together, etc.

I read a great book recently, The Love List by Dr. Les & Leslie Parrott. They have created eight healthy habits meant to refresh, transform and restore the intimacy of your marriage relationship. They offer practical suggestions and assessments on implementing each behavior. It offers the help you need to make daily, weekly, monthly and yearly improvements in your marriage.

Take the steps to really build a strong marriage, it's so worth it!! A great marriage is not built quickly. It is constructed thought by thought, action by action. It happens year upon year. We are always in process. Always growing.

I love you Gabriel.
